Media Release
Vienna – February 9, 2023
The Underground Energy Storage Technologies (UEST) consortium is pleased to announce that ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH, a division of the ILF Group, has become a new business partner as of January 2023. With its proven expertise in the sector of carbon capture and storage (CCS), ILF ideally augments the current UEST service portfolio. With over 45 regional office locations on five continents, the strong ILF presence now gives the consortium enhanced access to international markets.
UEST partners are accelerating the energy transition by pooling their expertise and capabilities to support their global energy partners in harnessing the promise of new energy streams. Stepping up investments and activity in clean-energy fuels and technologies is crucial to safeguard the energy supply for world economies while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The addition of ILF to the consortium will enable UEST to further pick up the pace in implementing storage applications in the areas of CCS, carbon capture, storage, and utilisation (CCUS), geothermal energy, and hydrogen. To realise the promise of hydrogen – which the IEA has called “an increasingly important piece of the net zero emissions 2050 puzzle” – underground hydrogen storage infrastructure must be established as quickly as possible.
